Randy Shaver Golf Classic
Mission: The Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund, founded in 2003, funds cancer-related research and community projects in the State of Minnesota.
The mission is to support research, prevention, treatment and other needs of the cancer community throughout the State of Minnesota.
The history: Randy's focus has always been cancer research and Minnesota's Cancer Community. However, the fight became personal after the 1998 tournament when he was diagnosed with Stage IV Hodgkin's Disease. His treatment and current remission prove that this community and its generosity have made an impact with Randy and others like him.
The main event, The Randy Shaver Celebrity Golf Classic began in 1995, raising $27,000. It has grown to be arguably one of Minnesota's most successful charitable golf tournaments. To date, nearly four million dollars has been raised to support cancer research and educational programs in
Minnesota.
With an operating budget of less than 10%, more than 90 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to the charity. We rely heavily on the generous donations of our sponsors and volunteers.
Bike MS
MS 150 presented by C.H. Robinson takes place June 11 to 13, 2010. This two-day bike ride is a fully supported weekend ride covering approximately 150 miles. The MS 150 starts at Proctor High School on Saturday morning, overnights at Grand Casino Hinckley and finishes at Century College in White Bear Lake on Sunday. Currently the registration fee is $50. Your registration fee is an amazing value which includes a commemorative ride T-shirt, meals, food and drinks at rest stops, mechanical support and medical support, police and volunteer support, support vans, entertainment and much more!
Bike MS Champions: Each year, thousands of people come together to ride and fundraise to work toward a world free of multiple sclerosis. Champions is a critical part of the fight against MS as it strives to make connections between people living with MS and event participants to foster education, awareness, gratitude, and most importantly, hope. The Champions program pairs people living with multiple sclerosis with cyclists who ride the MS 150 in their honor. The champion pairs exchange e-mails ahead of time and frequently arrange to meet at the overnight location in Hinckley or possibly at the ride's start or finish.
Children's Hospital of MN
More than $1 million raised at Thank God For Kids benefit More than 980 community leaders, corporate sponsors, supporters, patient families, and professionals in the medical community raised over $1 million at the 19th Annual Thank God for Kids Gala, held April 17 at the Historic
Milwaukee Depot.
The near record-setting fundraising for this event will directly support the Cancer Kids Fund, which provides support, care and comfort to children and families coping with cancer or blood disorders at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.
Beyond the annual effort to raise money for Cancer Kids Fund, this year the benefit set an additional goal to raise enough dollars to help fund the largest in-hospital Ronald McDonald House in the nation, which is now scheduled to open this year on the Children's - Minneapolis hospital campus. Through the generosity of many that goal was achieved.
The 19th annual Thank God for Kids benefit was presented by Dedicated Logistics, Inc., and co-chaired by Jeannie Provo-Petersen and Trish Becker. Emcees Frank Vascellaro and Belinda Jensen returned to help host this event. We look forward to sharing more Thank God for Kids information, photos, and video on our website and Facebook fan page.
Smile Network
Smile Network International is a global, non-profit humanitarian organization that provides life-altering, reconstructive surgeries and related healthcare services to impoverished children and young adults in developing countries.
Every year thousands of children are born in developing countries with facial deformities such as cleft lips and palates and suffer the humiliation and embarrassment of their disfigurement. Often times these children have difficulty eating, drinking and speaking. As a result, many are malnourished, underdeveloped and lack energy, strength and confidence. These children suffer rejection, social injustices and frequently are hidden away from the mainstream of everyday life.
Through local efforts, Smile Network International develops international partnerships that enable volunteers to build trust in foreign countries. These global relationships provide Smile Network the opportunity to conduct surgical missions and to impart dignity and quality of life to individuals whose medical needs may otherwise go untreated. All Smile Network surgeries are provided free of charge.
The mission of Smile Network International is straightforward: To reconstruct lives...one bright, smiling face at a time.
